Vehicle tracking completes the efficiency cycle for manufacturing waste recycling.

When CMA Recycling (formerly Southern Recycling) approached AA Radio regarding vehicle tracking it was to allow their clients to be able to track the efficient removal and cost recovery of their metal waste at the end of their manufacturing process. By installing tracking technology into their vehicles, CMA Recycling were able to offer their clients the benefit of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to complete the manufacturing cycle.

The tracking system gave the clients the opportunity to monitor the efficient and timely transfer of the recycled products from the manufacturing plant to the recycling centre, thus providing less opportunity for product ‘shrinkage’ and a quicker return to the manufacturer of the not insignificant amount of funds generated from the recycling process. This provided a ‘win win’ situation for both organisations as well as improving the efficiency of the fleet management of CMA Recycling.

Dave Cameron, part of the National Maintenance team at CMA Recycling operations, commented that the clients were particularly happy at the prompt and transparent transfer of waste materials between the manufacturers’ site and the recycling facility weighbridge and that any opportunity for losses had been removed. “The tracking system has been set up in such a way that our major clients can monitor the locations of vehicles dedicated to their removals if they wish, plus we can give them regular reports on the operation of their recycling functions” he said. “In addition, management of our fleet of vehicles all around Australia is much easier and we have seen improvements in our business efficiency in several areas.”

AA Radio can offer several different forms of vehicle tracking and can offer a system that is best suited to the particular requirements of the client. As in so many areas of their business, the end solution is driven by the needs of the client rather than any emphasis on a particular technology. From the small business who need to know ‘generally where our vehicles are’ through to industries like CMA Recycling who give their clients access to monitoring dedicated vehicles ‘in real time’, AA Radio have the solutions and the skills to provide them.
